About Me

Hello! My name is Meghan.

After spending my whole adult life working, I found myself unexpectedly blessed to become a first‑time mom at the age of 40. For years, doctors told me it likely wouldn’t happen, so when it did, my joy was overwhelming — but so was the uncertainty. I had no idea what this new chapter would look like. How was I supposed to be everything this tiny miracle needed while still holding on to who I was?

Now, I’m a stay‑at‑home mom learning to define and embrace this season of life.

I’m a mom — but I’m also an artist, a writer, and a dreamer. I love cooking and baking with big band radio playing in the background. I enjoy projects around the house, getting lost in a good book, and riding horses. I’m just as happy going on adventures with family and friends as I am curled up on the couch watching a movie. And of course, I never turn down a good cup of coffee. The simple things in life have always been the most precious to me.

So please join me, Dear Reader, on my journey back to Simple Roots Homemaking. I’ll be sharing the homemaking and motherhood tips I’ve gathered over the years — many inspired by my grandmother and mother — and inviting you into my world as I learn to become the best mom I can be, all while staying true to who I am.

Hello Dear Reader,

I grew up in a small Wisconsin town, right on the edge of the city. My parents had a generous half‑acre lot where there were always plants to tend, wildlife to watch, and flowers blooming somewhere. Home‑cooked meals, quiet evenings, and simple moments together were just part of everyday life.

My grandparents lived outside the city and kept a large garden filled with the staples — beans, corn, tomatoes, carrots, radishes, beets, and so much more. My grandmother baked, canned, and kept what I always thought of as a “proper cellar,” neatly stocked and ready for every season.

Over the past year, I’ve felt a steady pull back toward that kind of life — one that’s slower, simpler, and more rooted. I’ve found myself longing for the rhythms of my childhood, the ones shaped by tradition, intention, and love.

A life grounded in the values I was raised with: faith, family, home, joy, and the quiet beauty of everyday moments.

To reflect these changes in my heart and home, I’ve also refreshed the look and feel of my blog. While my writing will still focus on motherhood and homemaking, I hope to shape my blog into a space that mirrors the life I’m creating for my son and my family. A life that honors where I came from and guides where I’m going.
